Cranfield Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of Dan Francis as our new Chief Executive. Dan will be joining us at the end of September 2025, bringing a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the voluntary sector.
Dan joins from the National Council for Voluntary Organisations (NCVO), where he has led their training and consultancy practice as Principal Consultant. A specialist in charity governance and leadership, Dan has supported a diverse range of organisations—from grassroots charities to international bodies—since joining NCVO in 2016.
Dr Charmaine Griffiths, Chair of Cranfield Trust’s Board of Trustees, shared her enthusiasm about the appointment:
“We are thrilled that Dan will become our next Chief Executive later this year. His leadership qualities and expertise in supporting frontline charities will be invaluable in leading the brilliant Cranfield Trust team to protect and grow the impact they make every single day.”
Dan expressed his excitement at stepping into the role:
“It’s an honour to be appointed as the new Chief Executive of Cranfield Trust. I have admired the work of the organisation as it has delivered professional and outstanding support and guidance to charities at a time when they have never needed it more. I am very much looking forward to using my leadership and consultancy experience to guide and develop the Trust’s strategy and relationships, building on its exceptional reputation and delivery model.”
Dan’s appointment follows the announcement of the retirement of our long-serving Chief Executive, Amanda Tincknell CBE, who will be stepping down this autumn after 25 years of dedicated service.
As we prepare for this new chapter, we look forward to welcoming Dan and working together to continue delivering vital support to charities across the UK.
