Cranfield Trust Volunteers are high calibre managers, and are generally active in the commercial sector. Most Cranfield Trust volunteers have Master of Business Administration (MBA) degrees or other postgraduate professional qualifications. We work with a growing number of leading international business schools and have recently collaborated with the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development to recruit HR professionals to support the Cranfield Trust's HRNet service.

As one of our volunteer project consultants, you will work with a charity Chief Executive or senior manager to help them through a process such as:

• Working with the Board to develop strategy
• Writing a business plan
• Improving financial management
• Developing marketing/communications; or
• Embedding effective HR practices

You will need to be able to work effectively as an independent consultant, have experience of operating at strategic level, and enjoy the challenge of devising effective solutions with minimal resources. Your expertise could be in marketing, finance, HR, IT, general operational or other management fields.

You will only ever be offered projects which match your skills by the Trust’s team. Take a look at our FAQ download to find out more.

Our volunteers fit in Cranfield Trust projects around their work, families and other commitments – they act as consultants, working with voluntary organisations on an advisory basis over a period of weeks or months.  They are flexible and work to meet client charities’ particular objectives and deadlines, ensuring that each project is unique to the client organisation.

Cranfield Trust volunteers tell us that their assignments are personally and socially rewarding, with 100% of their work directly helping charities and often providing a lifeline for the charity’s existence. The whole experience can be a very enjoyable and enriching one, but don’t just take our word for it -

CRANFIELD TRUST REGIONAL EVENT IN THE MIDLANDS
18 June 2013, 6.30pm
In partnership with Warwick Business School

Transforming the charity sector: Can business skills make the difference?
Wright Hassall, Leamington Spa

You are warmly invited to join us at this event where you will hear how Charles Scott has used his business skills to face the current challenges in the charity sector.

Charles was formerly Finance Director in the second biggest and most complicated merger in charity history between Age Concern and Help the Aged and is now Executive Director of Corporate Shared Services at Action for Children , a £180m charity/social enterprise.

It will be a great opportunity to meet and network with Cranfield Trust volunteers and Warwick alumni. Our aim is to attract new volunteers in the region, enabling the Trust to reach more charities in need of business skills.

The evening is generously sponsored by Wright Hassall, a leading legal practice, and will be held at their offices in Leamington Spa.

Please book your place here and bring a friend.
